It’s been awhile…

Sorry it seems like forever since we shared pictures and little snippets of what we’ve been up to.

It’s winter here, so there as been lots of sleeping for both Phineas and I. More for him though. Lucky dog.

It snowed a little here which suites Phineas just fine. Anything more than 2″ of snow is too much in his eyes.

When it is nice to go for a walk, we like to visit this fellow who comes to for a head scratch and doesn’t seem to mind Phineas zooming and barking.

We hope everyone out there is doing well and either surviving the cold of winter or the heat of summer or living in a magical place where the temps are in the 70’s and humidity is almost nonexistent.

till next time…A & P

Why Can’t I Stay Out!?

Anyone else have annoying hoomans who don’t let you stay outside all day? It’s bullπŸ’©, right? To top it off, I don’t always get a treat when Momma drags me inside. Aggravating!

What do you think I should do to stop my hoomans bad behavior? Any advice from my doggie friends is appreciated.

Till later, Phineas

Spring Tease

Hello friends!

So, here in PA, mother nature was teasing us this week. In the middle of February, we are walking with no jackets, hats or gloves. It was so nice just to sit in the sun and give my electric bill a little break.

Now it’s chilly, cloudy and rainy. Blah.

Can’t wait for spring! 🌷

What is your favorite season?

Preparing for Christmas

So, it’s that most wonderful time of the year again! Our tree is up and sometimes the tree skirt is in its proper place. Sometimes it’s not.

We made some cookies and will make more so we have enough for Santa. Some Christmas cards have made it to the mail box, some have yet to be addressed and mailed.

Phins stocking is hung with care, though he wishes it was bigger.

How is your holiday prep coming along? Do you go crazy and then can’t get everything done unless you stay up till midnight? Do you celebrate another holiday this time of year? It’s Hanukkah right now, so Happy Hannukkah to our Jewish readers out there!

Till next time, friends! 😊

Happy Fall

It sure doesn’t feel like it here, but Fall has arrived!

I’m not so sure about this cause these leaves just fall off the tree with no warning and attack me! PSA: don’t pee or poo while standing under a tree.

Soon it’ll be time to pick a pumpkin with a good stem to chew on!

What is your favorite part of fall?

No More Knees to Fix

Let’s hope we never have to worry about fixing Phineas’ knees again! On July 6th Phin was once again under the knife. He had MPL surgery on his left knee. He did just as well the second time as the first. His vitals were good and he even seemed a little with it when I picked him up the next day.

He LOVES his friends at VCA Smoketown and I can’t recommend them enough for orthopedic work. The morning after surgery he and his vet tech friends were playing office and he even had his own name tag and a typing lesson! BTW, I’m guessing Phin was the only patient because of the holiday so he got tons of attention. They also want to get him up and moving a little bit. What’s a big bummer is that they didn’t take any pictures of his morning office adventure 😦

I got the phone call around 3 on Thursday that he was done with surgery and would be slowly waken up. He eventually ate their special dinner of cooked chicken and wet dog food. Both a major treat for Phineas. He had to be hungry too since it was almost 24 hours since he had last eaten.

I slept so well that night since my dog is a bed hog. Just saying.

So he did well overnight and I was to pick him up at 2. As much as I was excited to see him and get him home, I was dreading the next 7 days of keeping him calm and happy along with bending is knee and icing his leg.

Here I is in the car. Don’t I look thrilled?

Momma was so happy I laid down for the 30 minute ride home.

Ugh, are we home yet?

Once we got home I tried to make him comfortable.

I think I’ll lay next to this…

He wasn’t quite sure what to think of his new bed so he was up on the couch next.

Ahh, the comforts of home.

He almost slept through dinner. JK! I wouldn’t do that too him, though he did eat about 2 hours later then normal and he wouldn’t eat from his bowl for some silly reason. Spoiled dog!

The rest of the weekend was fun. No, not really. The little bugger remembered what the ice pack looked like. Even a plate of peanut butter wouldn’t keep him still so I could kind of ice his knee. Then he was feeling frisky on Sunday and tried to get on the couch. Ugh. At least he is a good pill taker since he had an antibiotic, carprofen, and tramadol to take.

That, my friends, is a snippet on what it is like to take care of your pup after MPL surgery. So glad it’s over! Well, except for rehab.

Just chilling with my cone. Too bad there’s not ice cream in there.

The New Bed -Part 1 (and more)

Oh, has it been awhile since I put finger to cellphone screen. Actually, I have no idea when I started this blog post and what I intended for it. Sorry if it’s a little out of sorts.

Phineas is almost recovered from his surgery in the winter and some tendonitis from getting to excited about 4 weeks after his surgery. He’s walking a ton more, which is good for both of us. He’s actually wanting to walk on streets he’s never been before. He’s not totally macho, though. The other day we heard some loud bangs inside our apartment. About an hour later I had to go and the little stinker would not budge from the walk-way near our door. I had to pick him up and carry him across the street to go potty.

Are the loud boomies over Momma? I’s don’t have to go pee. I’s will hold it.

We also went to the river in an attempt to get him used to water.  It was was a chilly day, but since he’s part retreiver (not really) he would fetch his ball after in threw it. He wasn’t thrilled to go in too deep, but again it was a cloudy and cool day. We hope to go again when it’s warmer out. My hope is to see if he will swim.

Our latest aquisition is a new dog bed. Its MollyMutt cover with a bolster pillow and a mesh stuff sack. What you do is stuff the stuff sack with old clothing, pillows, blankets etc.  Pretty much anything soft. Using your old clothing and bedding is nice for your pup since it has your scent on it. I was hoping he wouldn’t destroy which he hasn’t. On he downside, he hasn’t laid on the bed either. He fancies the couch more. Hopefully if we move to a bigger place he will start to use it. We’ll have to wait and see.

Me sleeping next to what looks like a comfy dog bed

Phineas just had his left knee fixed(though the little turd wanted to try to jump up on the couch tonight. I will be fully blocking furniture from now on.) I will try to blog about his surgery later this week.

Have a good week everybody!

One year older…

Look who turned 3 last week! May the 4th to be somewhat exact. We don’t know his actual Birthday, but the 4th is when we celebrate it.

We went to Petco for a bag of free treats and a new Darth Vader toy for him to destroy. He is a tried and true fighter for the Rebel Alliance! BOL πŸ˜‚ He knows a bad guy when he sees ’em.

Me and my treats ands my new Darf Vader toy to destroy!

Here’s to many more Birthdays Phineas!🍻

Didn’t Catch the Easter Bunny

Hi everybody! I hope all my 2 legged and 4 legged friends had a nice Easter! 🐰 🐣 πŸ‘

Easter had its ups and downs for me this year. The ups was when the Easter Bunny left me a treat and 2 toys. Now I’m down to 1 new toy; RIP stuffed peep. The downer was when I, yet again, didn’t catch the Easter Bunny! He got away again! Sigh. I guess there’s always next year.

Did any of my friends get stuff from the Easter Bunny?

Dis is me with my new peep. Now it is dead 😦
